Colnago G5-X: Colnago's New Gravel Bike
Colnago introduces the G5-X, its new-generation gravel bike. It is not an evolution of the G4-X but an entirely new platform, developed from an in-depth analysis of how modern gravel riders ride and what they need from their bike.

Colnago G5-X: What's New
Nominal tire clearance reaches 53 mm, with 6 mm of clearance, making room for generous tires on the most demanding terrain. The down tube houses an internal storage compartment, accessible through a removable plate that accepts traditional bottle cages or the FIDLOCK® system. Three FIDLOCK® Twistlock mounts are included.
There are six mounting points: two standard bottle cage mounts, one under the down tube, one on the top tube and two on the fork for bottle or cargo cages. The 27.2 mm round seatpost makes the frame potentially compatible with dropper posts. The threaded BSA 68 mm bottom bracket keeps maintenance simple. The frame is UDH compatible and accepts both single chainring drivetrains, with chainrings up to 50T, and double chainring drivetrains.
Colnago G5-X vs G4-X: What Changes
The G4-X was designed mainly for gravel racing. The G5-X broadens the scope: it is still fast and efficient, but it is also designed for long-distance riding and bikepacking. Tire clearance grows from 45 to 53 mm. The number of mounting points increases from four to six, with new mounts on the fork. The G5-X also adds an integrated storage compartment in the down tube, which the G4-X did not have.
Three Builds Available
The Colnago G5-X is available in three builds, all with SRAM XPLR E1 1x13 drivetrains and 50 mm tires:
- Colnago G5-X SRAM Red XPLR AXS E1, with Zipp 303 XPLR SW wheels and CC.01 Wide integrated cockpit
- Colnago G5-X SRAM Force XPLR E1, with Vision TC45 Carbon wheels and CC.01 Wide integrated cockpit
- Colnago G5-X SRAM Rival XPLR E1, with Vision TC45 Carbon wheels, Deda Superzero Gravel handlebar and Colnago SR10 stem
Five sizes are available: 450, 480, 510, 540 and 570.
